Greenpeace extends its deepest condolences to all of the families of those whose lives were lost as a result of the horrific bombings of the international medical organisation Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF) hospital in Kunduz, Afghanistan.
Greenpeace condemns in the strongest possible terms the attack as a grave violation of International Humanitarian Law, with the loss of twelve MSF staff members and 10 patients, including three children; 37 people were injured including 19 staff members.
This tragedy demands nothing less than a full and independent investigation.
Greenpeace would like to take this opportunity to express its utmost admiration for the courage of MSF and all humanitarian organisations operating in hostile environments.
Mike Townsley is the Head of Communications for Greenpeace International.
